Poster produced for the Southern Railway (SR) and Southern Electric (SE), showing a highly stylised image of a train's route measured by an enormous pair of compasses to illustrate that 'a straight line is the quickest way between two points'. Artwork by Patrick Cokayne Keely (d 1970), who also designed posters for the Great Western Railway and London Transport, as well as the British, Dutch and French governments. Original artwork dimensions: 1016 mm x 635 mm.
