Pencil, grey and cream wash cloud study by Luke Howard (1772-1864), showing bank of cumulus amassed over hilly landscape, and inscribed in pencil: 'Snowy landscape'. Howard was a London chemist and a pioneer in meteorology, who in 1820 published the important 'Climate of London' containing the currently used classification of clouds. Dimensions: 110mm x 160mm.
