Description
From boxed set of stereo pictures entitled; 'Bernese Alps Through the Stereoscope' by Underwood & Underwood, 1905. Manufacturer of stereoscopic goods, lantern slides and press illustrations; founded in 1881in Ottawa-Kansas; also traded in London, New York & Toronto; sold all stereographic rights and stock to Keystone View Co in 1920; in 1924-25, took the first vertically controlled aerial photographs of Miami; the company ceased to trade in the 1940s. Premises in London were at 104 High Holborn. Part of the Ricketts Collection, a collection of prints, albums, ephemera and objects assembled by Howard and Jane Ricketts. The Collection concentrates mainly on 19th century British photography, but is also rich in documentary, topographic and ethnographic photography from around the world. Album 8, May to August 1912.
