Description
Photograph, one of 35, showing the corona around the eclipsed Sun at totality during the solar eclipse seen on 28 May 1900. This shot was taken from the Mohammed Ali Channel during the construction of the original Aswan Dam on the river Nile in Egypt that was completed in 1902. The picture shows various pieces of construction equipment, camels and site huts lit by the Sun's corona a pearly glow that mimics the appearance of moonlight.
